The ASEAN SOGIE Caucus (ASC) is a regional organization of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) individuals and groups in Southeast Asia that advocates and lobbies for the inclusion of sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and sex characteristics (SOGIESC) in the ASEAN. Established in 2011, ASC promotes LGBTIQ rights in ASEAN and seeks to build strong relationships with civil society, state actors, and international organizations.
Our Southeast Asian Queer Cultural Festival (SEAQCF) 2024 is coming up! The first edition of SEAQCF took place virtually in 2021 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, spanning from February 13 to March 13. It featured 43 artworks across audio, visual, and video formats, including poetry slams, photo exhibitions, film screenings, and drag shows, presented in 14 live online events. the 2024 SEAQCF, we plan to adopt a hybrid approach, reconnecting with past artists from the first volume while also engaging with new emerging queer artivists.
This festival will serve as a cultural, creative and political space for activists, artists and cultural workers. The festival will be done via on-line spaces. ASC needs a person who can bring forward innovation and dedication amidst a highly challenging work environment. The person will take on a leadership role within a team of activists from different countries and backgrounds.
We are looking for the Festival Coordinator Assistant to work together with the Festival Coordinator to execute the festival. Due to the current telecommuting work arrangements of ASC, the person may be based anywhere in the Southeast Asia region, but must be accessible on-line.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Festival Coordinator in implementing the festival strategy and work plan, with the following detailed tasks:

- Assist in the provision of technical or logistical requirements for festival activities or events;
- Provide support in ensuring availability and access to selected digital platforms as on-line venues for the festival;
- Develop a system for festival registration;
- Assist in documenting the process and outcomes of the festival
- Monitor and document festival participation metrics;
- Work closely with the Festival Graphic Designer in visualizing and creating festival graphic design, with the following detailed tasks:

- Assist in creating illustrations, logos, layouts and photos.
- Assist in shaping the visual aspects of festival packaging such as the exhibitions, the literary layout and more.
- Assist in promoting or publicizing the festival such as by designing visual, video, audio and other content;
- Provide assistance to the Festival Coordinator and the ASC security team in developing and implementing a risk assessment and security plan to ensure the safe conduct of SEAQCF.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in organizing an art or cultural festival;
- High skill in graphics design and expert with on-line media platforms;
- Strong organization skills and highly detailed oriented;
- Committed and skilled at working with others to achieve positive outcomes;
- Strong writing and communication skills;
- Capacity to work with minimal supervision;
- Capacity to work remotely;
- Reliable, self-motivated, have a positive attitude and a good team player.
